Shubhangi’s Venture: Kartavya

According to statistics, more than half of all children in India are sexually abused - but society is quick to sweep this problem under the rug.  Shubhangi is fighting to end child sexual abuse through open discussion, awareness, and education.  She leads outreach sessions at schools, engaging groups of students and parents separately.  When speaking to children, Shubhangi uses stories to explain what kind of behavior constitutes abuse, how to prevent it and how to approach adults who can help.  With parents, she provides a platform for discussion about the signs of abuse and the resources available to protect their kids. Kartavya’s first year goal is to reach out to 1,000 children and 750 parents.
