Rajit’s Venture - Yuva Shakti
Rajit is from Chichbardi, Tapi, in rural Gujarat. His inspiration to start Yuva Shakti came from the realization that the youth in his village were mainly unemployed and whiled away their time. He chose cricket to get all the youth at one place to explain his venture and how it would help by organising a tournament. He was encouraged to see youth from about 25 villages participating. He organized a children’s fair and started mushroom farming, also built a main road to his village. All these tasks motivated the youth to stay engaged in work. The activities continue. He is now working on building a garden in the village. The youth feel empowered due to which the village has seen development and progress and have got them bubbling with enthusiasm. The younger children have also been influenced by this positivity and are going regularly to their classes and studying hard. Rajit feels his life has changed after he started involving himself with the youth. His most memorable moment, “It has to be the cricket tournament because I have never seen so many youth at one place ever. People from 20-25 villages had taken part and our village came 2nd. It was very inspiring for me.” Rajit wants to improve the bond he shares with the youth and work harder also helping other nearby villages. Through the various development projects done by the youth he wants people to understand the power of youth and get motivated.
