Posted on 18. Jun, 2009 by Aditi in Education, Our Changemakers
A third year degree student, Prashant’s dream is to ensure that every child has the opportunity to access quality education. Since the children in his basti (slum) found it difficult to keep up with studies in school, he started, Jyot (light). Through his Venture, he and his team conduct free private coaching classes for the children from his basti. These are conducted daily to provide quality education to those who cannot afford it. He inspired 45 children to go back to school, most of who are girls. He recognises the need for overall development of the children, hence during vacations he arranges picnics, exhibitions, competitions, parent meetings, dancing, painting, and singing classes. To keep them motivated, inspired and stimulated he organises numerous competitions for the children. Recently, his students have participated in a major dance competition and bagged the first prize. He continues to dedicate himself to working for the betterment of these children.
