Few people know anything about thalassemia, an inherited blood disease that is detected by a simple test. People with thalassemia minor could live their lives without knowing they were carriers; however, if two carriers have a child, he or she will have thalassemia major – a potentially fatal condition. A student of Sophia College, Krithika, was working on a college project of psychoanalysing Thalassemia patients when she hit upon the idea of starting Halt Thal. Her Venture raises awareness about thalassemia minor and provides psychological support to people with thalassemia major. She and her team have researched thalassemia minor extensively. They have spread awareness through stalls at college festivals and extensively at blood donation drives. When asked to describe her motivation she says, “Once individuals are aware of the consequences of being minors, we can reduce the occurrence of thalassemia major in infants. Plus, voluntary blood donation in itself will benefit all those who are terminally ill or require blood.” She aims to give emotional support to those children who have thalassemia major.

Glad to know about this venture. I worked on Sickle Cell Disease(similar with Thalassemmia) for an assignment. So knew the what important issue, u r dealing with. Wanted to know what different interventions and subsequent strategies, are u applying for it.
How can I be part of it, either independently or with u ?
