Kavita’s Venture: Jagruti

Kavita lives in a basti (slum) in Sion where a number of girls drop out from school during the seventh and eight standard. She decided to help other young girls change their fate. Along with parents, she started to impart education to the dropouts. Kavita screens animated documentaries on the importance of education to inspire and motivate them. She stresses on the power of education by having regular discussions on future career plans, and helps students who are behind through training classes. She also holds frequent educational exhibitions, and teaches them sewing and mehendi work thereby increasing their access to jobs. Kavita’s dream is to ensure that girls get equal education rights as boys.
